The Bates Family Legacy [2.4]

Jul 13, 2011 23:38

Welcome back! It's definitely been a while, but in that time I've managed to play three updates (plus a picspam post) worth of Bates Family Adventures.

Last time, Liang Yat Sen came over to the house for an international visit, got engaged and married to Ellie, and then for some reason I had to cheat him into the house. That glitched the family into a permanent state of "CAN'T INVITE FOREIGN VISITORS" so Lucy had to go on a trip to France to see if she could find Jean-Claude Petit. She couldn't. I was furious.

Meanwhile, Evan set about actually completing his LTW (he was one woohoo away), and Storm and Goodwin remained invisible.

Let's continue this under the cut!

As promised, I'm sending Lucy on a trip to as many foreign locations as it takes to find Jean-Claude.
Note to self: no more foreign spouses. NONE.

OMG HE'S HERE HE'S HERE HE'S HERE!
MAKES THE EFFORT WORTHWHILE. :D

Seriously, this was like the happiest moment of the chapter.
(Spoilers: everything gets progressively worse from here.)

However, before it got worse it got better, and I was able to watch Lucy and Jean-Claude be all cute and shit, naively assuming that my luck would not run out.

Also, this guy is the king of cute faces. :D

Haha, so while I was optimistic, I wasn't stupid - I knew that my game was in a volatile place, so I figured that if I couldn't get Jean-Claude back to Twinbrook in the long haul, at least Lucy could have his babies.

So they attempted conception.
It was successful.

So after that, I tried my hand at getting Jean-Claude into the family without cheating (i.e. spamming friendly actions to get him to move in, and then spamming romantic actions to make him her boyfriend->fiance->husband). That just didn't work, because my game hates me, so I saved about 20 times and then cheated him in.

And then, FINALLY, we got somewhere. It just had to be Jean-Claude that proposed all the things. Weirdest glitch ever.

D'awww, I love them. <3

Jean-Claude: "Lucy, will you marry me?"

Lucy: "YES, YES I WILL! OMG I'M SO HAPPY MY EYES GLITCHED SHUT."
Jean-Claude: "Can I take that back?"

No. You're in this for life now. ;) Game permitting, that is.

Anyway, they were engaged.

I decided it would only be fair that, since they were in such a beautiful place, they could have a really lovely, picturesque private wedding, and sent them up to The Temple of Heaven to get married.

Lucy: "Yes, good spot. I approve of this spot. We can get hitched here."

Not like I asked for your permission. Wonderful!

Yes, this was an excellent choice on my part. :)
Their wedding has probably been the best I've ever had in my game. That's kind of embarrassing, actually.

Oh, bugger. She took his name. >____>

Also, LOL, does anyone know what this does?!

Okay, so here's the ultimate test. EVERYONE CROSS THEIR FINGERS NOW!

WE MADE IT BACK, WITH JEAN-CLAUDE IN TOW.
NOW, I EXPECT FULL PARTICIPATION:
DO THE WAVE!

Anyway, here are Jean-Claude's stats. And don't be fooled, he won't be keeping that LTW because it's not realistic.

Also, NOOOOOOO.
Fuck, I hate it when my sims marry people who are so much older. >___>

And to add to all the fucktardery that was going on in my game, Jean-Claude was under the impression he knew two Lucys and they were both his wife. Also, everyone had double the Ellies and Evans in their relationships panel. I couldn't even exit without saving, because this was a product of Lucy's vacation.

Anyway, I decided to play through it and just hope for the best. The girls and their husbands (plus Storm) ended up having some really fun pool time.

Oh, in case you're wondering, Ellie and Lucy are having a breath-holding competition. Ha! I love this game - I find something new about it almost every time I play!

Holy Jesus, her body scares me.
Ellie's a tank!

AGHGHGHGHGGHGHG NOOOOOOO----

Don't get upset yet, though: this wasn't really Goodwin's death. The Grim Reaper didn't actually show and he was glitched into floating there forever. I had to exit the game without saving and replay about 40 minutes of gameplay.

Also, LOL. Silly Lucy.

Now, this was Goodwin's death. When I played the game over again, it came a lot sooner (sadly).

I'm so sad he's gone! D: As is everyone else, as you can undoubtedly tell.

Anyway, after this point I saved and exited the game. Unfortunately when I entered it again, a couple of days later, ALL of the characters were experiencing the same glitch as Kamal from Addison's legacy: they had disappeared from their squares, though some were still in the house, and only Lucy was clickable because she'd been the one I'd last played. Not to mention that her actions were limited to clicking on objects and terrain; sims couldn't interact with each other.

It was at this point that I thought I'd lost the game, and almost gave up. But then I decided to try something that I'd only seen attempted by Nichola (mynameisnichola ), which was to save the family to the game library and move them to a different, glitch-free town.

Did it work? Well, I guess you'll see in the next update!
(Just kidding, it did work. But seriously, you'll see it in the next update. :P)
