First, and most importantly, I hope that you receive some good news today, wherever you may be. I have an abundance of it today, though one piece I found out about on Friday evening. I am still so happy about it, though, that I am sharing it here.
My chapbook, The Universe Comes Knocking, has been accepted for publication by Maverick Duck Press.
Maverick Duck Press is a small press founded in 2005 to "give a voice to undiscovered talent in poetry." They specialize in small, limited-edition print runs of chapbooks, including those of some local poets I really admire, including Kendall Bell, Bruce Niedt, Don Kloss, and Anna Evans, most of whom I've mentioned or featured here on the blog before. I will let you know when it will be available!
I got a paycheck from the Philadelphia Inquirer for the piece I wrote about the Urban Bourbon tour in Louisville, Kentucky. You may recall me mentioning the tour in
my vacation-related blog post. Well, I went ahead and wrote up a travel piece on it, and the Inquirer accepted and published it.
Here's a link to the online version, which omits the photo I sent along with it. I feel kind of badly about you missing it, so here's the photo:

I'm in menopause. Yes, I am sharing my health news. Bloodtests have confirmed it, etc. I suspected it already based on my expanding midriff, but now it's for real. *Capers about in post-menopausal glee, which looks a lot like sitting at a desk drinking coffee* Now to figure out how to burn more calories/reshape my body so I retain my pearishness and don't go all apple-y. Suggestions, dear friends, for a person who can't do high-impact stuff due to my other health issues (rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia)?
Tell me your good news, please?
