For today's Poetry Friday post, my poem about the founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim, from the anthology Dare to Dream . . . Change the World, edited by Jill Corcoran. My poem is the biographical one in a pair of poems about YouTube. In the book, there is also a brief prose biography about the three guys who founded YouTube, including this quote from Jawed Karim, who says his favorite videos "illustrate what YouTube is all about, namely that anyone who has a good idea can just take that idea and make it happen." You can read the more inspirational partner poem, "Just Like That", by my wonderful friend Laura Purdie Salas at

A Place to Share
by Kelly Ramsdell Fineman
You could say they took something hard
and made it easy.
You could say the reached out to the wide world
and made it smaller.
You could say they shared their skills
so others could share their talents.
You could say they created a real community
within a virtual space.
You could call it a triumph of technology,
a credit to creative thinking,
an energized innovation.
Or you could call it YouTube.
