Watch out for the after-effects of the overload of baking soda (there's a reason it was a common antacid for a certain while). At least, that was the memorable after-effect when I put baking soda in waffles instead of baking powder.

I ended up pitching it - it had a fizzy sort of mouthfeel, which was kinda gross.
