As is usually the case, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Those of you who've read the books or seen the movie know whereof I speak. There were a surprising number of people who had clearly not read the books and were gobsmacked by various and sundry turns of event ( Read more... )

My daughter is watching it with a friend as I type. She went dressed in a black robe and Hogwarts-ish style tie. I look forward to hearing her impression. Sounds awesome. I'm taking my boys tomorrow evening. Thanks for the teases!

S went in her Gryffindor T-shirt with friends (2 of the guys were in matching T-shirts - they bought them for the Half-Blood Prince launch, when they were Ron, Harry & Hermione).

M and Alexa settled for lightning bolt scars on their foreheads, as did quite a number of other audience members.

So, somebody loses an eye? :)

Thank you for your review! I'm amazed you were able to write one so soon after the midnight showing. So glad you had such an incredible time. I think Jason the Fan Fiction Writer would have creeped me out. ("How Not to Promote Your Work...")

It was, to use a phrase coined by cleolinda, "hillarible" (a cross between hilarious and horrible).

I was so revved up when I got home that I opted to log on and write then, rather than counting on being awake and having a memory this morning.

Now I *reallY* can't wait to watch. I haven't read any HP books after #3, so I'll surely be shocked by the twists and turns.

As Mae West said, "Hang on tight, it's going to be a bumpy ride."

Fun post! Although I wish there were pics of all that! You are getting me excited to see the film, even though I am one of the few who did not love the last two books of the series.

The last two books have grown on me over time (and after re-reading). We weren't waiting in line - they cut off evening movies early and had seating for the HP movies starting sometime before 10 (we got there at 9:53 and our theatre was already at least half full - with the prize center section taken, pretty much, unless you wanted to be in the first three rows). Had we been in line, I probably would have asked the Death Eaters to pose, etc., but they were seated in the middle of a row, and we only saw them as they came and went for food and bathroom trips prior to the movie. Same goes for most other folks.
