Retreat Report

It quickly reminded me what it is that is so great - and liberating - about a writing retreat outside your own home: you ( Read more... )

Sounds lovely! I wish I could have a retreat from my vacation now! Except I need my kitties around me at this point, and they don't care much for retreating.

Kitties are such good company. Maybe you can stage a mini-retreat at home. After you've caught up on the laundry from your trip, of course. ;)

The funniest part is that as of lunchtime on Thursday, I was nearly positive I might not finish the outline by Sunday. So when I finished it at around 12:30 a.m. on Friday (which is still Thursday night, in my book), I was completely gobsmacked!

Yowsa! That was a productive retreat. Putting the writing first is in fact much easier when the children are away at college. Husbands are much more understanding, in my experience. Plus, I will admit, that's one reason why we are currently petless. I don't want the additional responsibility. Selfish, but true.

You are so right, you don't know how right you are. Especially when one of your pets has a severe medical issue and becomes a special needs pet, the way Wally did. He's actually able to walk pretty well these days, but still can't do steps, etc., and he doesn't have full bowel control yet, either. It's terribly wearing.

My kids keep insisting that I'm going to have a severe case of empty nest syndrome when they go off to school. Thing is, I'm actually looking forward to it, so I will have the house and time to myself. (Isn't that terrible of me to admit?) Not that I won't miss them, of course, but part of me is anxious to clean their rooms and have a tidy looking house and lots and lots of writing time!
