After yesterday's post, Shakespeare's "Doubt thou the stars are fire" from Hamlet, I was stumped as to how to end this year's National Poetry Month observance. So stumped, in fact, that I am cheating and backdating this post for the 30th, even though it's being written on May Day. I knew "stile" from reading about the English countryside as part of my Austen research, but figured others might not. And anytime I have to look a word up myself (such as Dominie), I share the definition - no sense making everyone look it up.

Me too! That, and the children climbing the stile, are what sold me on this particular Dickinson sun-related poem!
