Lovely review, Kelly. Love "sings to places in your soul." And how. It absolutely touches places within us words can't describe. :)

When I don't have a hot cup of tea and a quiet corner handy, another read of this lovely book is just as good. :-)

I hadn't even heard of this book before this very second.
And you have thoroughly convinced me.
I know about that whole beyond words feeling.
And when I find it--I grab a hold.

Thanks, darling!

Another book sort of like how you describe this? "Blueberry Girl" and I *think* I heard of that gem first here too--I read that to my baby girl and get weepy-in-a-good-way time and time again.
GEM!

Blueberry Girl is magnificent, but isn't quite as much for children as it is for adults, though I think it works for reading to baby girls just fine. Liz's book is great for all ages (and genders) of readers. Just my opinion, of course.

That's true--Blueberry Girl is a love story from a parent to their newborn IMO.

Definitely. The story behind the book is that Neil Gaiman's friend, Tori Amos (the recording star), called him when she was pregnant and asked him to write a poem for her. And she was referring to her child in utero as "the blueberry". And so, you are 100% correct about what the poem is - wishes for a newborn (or not yet born) baby girl.
