At the library

My local library is quite an inspiring place. It didn't used to be - it used to be a small, cluttered building with tatty ceiling panels and poor fluorescent lighting. Until a few years back, when the Township sprang for the big, exciting building I'm sitting in today ( Read more... )

I'm looking forward to Shakespeare, too - and I've started brushing up already!

Sorry to hear it's not better-stocked where you are.

Your icon is awesome, too - but I've already told you that at least once.

My library is pretty great, I must say. I consider myself very lucky. Now if only it were closer to my house instead of across town . . .

Dude! I WISH my library were quiet. I've decided the librarians think it would be uncool and stereotypical to talk in lowered voices. And the patrons are even louder.

The loudest person in our local library (and angeladegroot will vouch for me on this) is the custodian, who likes to get his flirt on with the children's librarians, at full voice. Makes me want to kick him. The Loudest Librarian took a job at a school, so the remaining ones aren't too bad. But up in children's, it's a much noisier place, even with far fewer people around.

All libraries are exciting. It's what's between the covers that makes it so. Heh.

Our library has been raising money for the last year to expand it's children's section. I simply cannot wait to see it completed! Ours, like your former library, is a small, shabby place. It's children's section has two, very small tables for seating and that's it. And the chairs aren't very comfortable! I would love to hang there to write, but it's not very inspiring in its current state.

I hope that when they revamp/expand it, it turns out to be someplace you can sit in comfort and write!
