Oops--I just realized I'm NOT supposed to require a guarantee. But I really like the idea of saying, "Okay, you're going to write a scene in 1913 that REALLY resonates with teens in 2009!" Maybe, as long as its not a fame-and-fortune guarantee, it can work? :)

With this as with other things, I think the trick is to find what works for you, motivates you, and keeps you going, and not to make things harder for yourself.

Carla on Top Chef, eh? I guess I can see it. I love Jane's quote. Funny, though, that Charlotte's later quote (kinda bashing Jane) makes the same essential point.
