i'd like to start reflecting on the books that i read in a blog-like fashion, and seeing as it's also the beginning of the year, it'll make for a nice collection of books-that-i-read-in-2010, as well. so, first!

It is unfortunate that the tendency to underestimate graphic novels is all too common. Therefore, good comic books that will seriously BLOW YOUR MIND:

  • Safe Area Goražde - Joe Sacco (about the war/genocide in eastern Bosnia.)

  • Black Hole - Charles Burns (easily my most favorite, takes place in the 1970's, revolves around a STD that mutates victims in their adolescence.)

  • Superman: Red Son - Mark Millar (answers the age old question: "What if Superman was a communist?")

  • Sandman - Neil Gaiman (omg I cannot even express how amazing this effing comic series it is, it breaks all the rules and is awesome in every way a comic book can be.)

  • Eightball + Ghost World - Daniel Clowes (he's sassy and his stories are unique to the point of WTFery.)
