I've been debating with myself just this morning as to whether I should get a Wii or an Xbox 360. Still not made up my mind 'cos I want both, but I also want a DSLR camera. Decisions, decisions!
The Wii is a very social machine, I love it, but dont play it as much as most of my friends live in another country - but when we do have guests it gets pulled out and fun is had by everyone.
The 360 is more or less a single person machine, just a slightly fancier xbox or PS2.
As a gross generalization I find that if there is a girl gamer in the house then a Wii is the best bet, if its just boys go for the 360 or PS3 seems to be preferred.
I guess it depends on what kind of gamer you think you are.
Once we've settled in the house a bit more, and got the spare room into a habitable state we'll hopefully have fairly regular visitors so obviously the Wii is going to be great for that! Even if that were not the case, I'm a bit of a Nintendo whore so I'd want one anyway, haha!
The boyf isn't really a gamer tho, so I'm hoping the Wii would encourage him to get into it a bit. At the same time, I think a number of games on the Xbox (forza 2, sega rally, guitar hero, ace combat etc)could also tempt him. Plus there are quite a few games on the Xbox that I want too!
So really, I think we'll end up getting both! I want my DSLR first tho! Shame money doesn't grow on trees!
Wii Play, Wii Sports, Smooth Moves (WarioWare), My Sims & Dance Dance Revolution (comes with one free mat) are all games I heartily recommend.
Big Brain was fun on the DS, I imagine it will be fun on the Wii, but I didn't bother with it (kept telling me I had the brain of a hairdresser *hurumptt*).
Zelda looked pretty but it made me really motion sick trying to play, so I never really got out of the village ;(
I'm not a big Mario fan so I haven't done Party or Paper.
I have Smooth Moves on my Christmas list! I didn't really enjoy The Sims that I got for Xbox so not sure if I'd enjoy that title.
I want Wii Play as I remember that being good from playing on Dean's sister's. Big Brain came as standard and the others were from a selected choice the website gave. Dean loves the Zelda genre so that was a given - he'd also played it on his sister's a little bit.
I don't really know anything about the Mario games but they were about a million times more appealing than Fifa '08 and Tiger Woods...
Mr Tiny! Hah, I don't think he'll be called that very often if the size of my bump is anything to go by!
I'm sure whatever you make I will love it lots like jelly tots!
I've only played The Sims on Xbox, I pestered Dean for it as I loved the premise, but I juts couldn't get into it. I used to like the Sim City games on the PC though so if the do anything like that I will probably give it a go.
Hahaha! That's SO funny cuz I impulse-bought a Wii yesterday, lol. I had a bit of trouble finding one in stock until I stopped looking on the internet and made a few local calls (I ended up in my local HMV). I bought Mario Party 8, Red Steel and Sims 2:Castaway and promptly lost 5 hours to the Sims!! lol
