Thank you, dear Tetley, for this wonderful review. I love hearing your careful thoughts about the characters and the presentation (and I appreciate all the time you took, especially when I know that Snape is not your favorite read /g/).
I'm glad you liked Filius's piano. As I wrote, I could just see him playing -- I imagined him magically shortening the keyboard so that his small hands could reach the keys (but with no loss of sound quality, of course!)
I'm liking Aberforth more and more each time I write him (and he gets a little cuddlier each time, I think).
You've quite made my day, dear, with these kind words and your kind rec.
You sound pretty coherent to me! And I agree -- what's interesting about Minerva (or about any worthwhile character) is that she does have flaws and limitations, and like so many real people, they tend to be flaws that are sort of the obverse of her strengths. In canon, she's presented as bright and strong, and it's easy for such people to become impatient with others who are weaker and less smart; we see her doing this. She's loyal, and we also see the downsides of loyalty: it can lead one not to question when one should and/or to distrust too strongly anyone outside the group to whom one is loyal
