Ohh, I do love this. You made me all curious now whom she will take. Figures that she couldn't possibly let go of her hate even in death.

And yes, characters/pairings matter more than anything, sadly.

Glad you liked it! Bella was quite fun to write.

This was my first year in the Halloween fest, and when I participate I try to really participate, you know?
Anyway, while I would usually be more likely to avoid Bella fic, you are such a talent that I knew it would be fabulous, and it was.
This is all just to say that while pairings/characters do matter, who's writing is also very important. :)

That's true -- people do choose stories based on more than pairings. And with something like hp_halloween, I make it a point to read everything, no matter how far outside my usual interests a given pairing is. It's just not that hard to make it though even 50-60 two-hundred-word stories.

Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks! I had a fine high time writing Bellatrix.

So many factors: more participants, perhaps more across-the-board commenters (folks who set out to read everything), too? And Sandy kept at least a few of us away. (I was stranded in the NY region during the fest last year.)

The more cynical part of me says that femslash is often an active deterrent, but perhaps that's another topic for another night. M.

Oh, right, Sandy. Of course. That's probably the major factor regarding last year's fest. It's true that femmeslash gets less readership overall than the other major genres, but I suspect that's not the issue (or certainly not the main issue) here.

This works so well, especially since we don't know whom she will take. And Voldemort teaching her how to do it, and Bellatrix still raving about how she was the only one he really trusted - which may well have been the case, for Voldemort would know Bellatrix's devotion is absolute, even if she isn't much practical use - is great.

Thanks! Yes, I think even behind the Veil, Bella would retain all her obsessions.
