Yes, indeed! But then again I have been moaning about being bored lately so now I have no excuse any more. ^_^
Our trip to Japan was short but very sweet. Sander couldn't get that many days off from work so we settled for 6 days (well, 5 really as we left early on the 6th day). Definately not enough time to see everything Kyoto has to offer but we saw all the main attractions and stopped by the National Museum. I'd certainly recommend going on those tours that the hotels help organise as they really do save a lot of time and money. Kyoto was such a big city that it took ages to get from one sight to the next by metro or on foot. With those tours, they take you directly to each place and thus saves you a lot of time (especially if you are as useless with a map as Sander and I are!)
I'll be putting up some photos very shortly. I've uploaded mine to the laptop but I need to have a dig through Sander's photos as he's a slightly better photographer than I am. :P
Heh...no worries. I pretty much felt the same way when I got to Chiang Kai-Shek. ;)
I'm pretty lucky that the kind ladies at the ANA/EVA Airways desk made and printed out a dummy itinerary for me so I had an outgoing ticket to show to the immigration officials, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been allowed into Taiwan! What bugs me most is that this is my 2nd 6-month visa and have had absolutely no problems until now. Perhaps they're getting stricter.
I know I'm certainly not the first or only person to have had this problem as I've heard similar stories at Forumosa.Com. It seems the Taiwanese visa system is a little mismanaged and the offices in Hong Kong and so forth all tell you different things. Heck, why would I pay for a 6-month multiple-entry visa if I didn't *need* it? I'm fairly certain the 'Enter Before' date means that the visa has to be 'activated' before that date or else it gets cancelled as this is the story I was told when I got my visa to China so many years ago and I heard the same thing from the nice guy at the

That's just ridiculous. You'd think the authorities would be clear on the rules by now.
I would have had little problem living here in Sander and I were married (he has an ARC).
It was the same with us. I had an ARC and my partner didn't. One of my dodgier friends asked me if we had a fake marriage certificate that we could use to get my partner an ARC on "joining family" grounds. O_o
Yeah, it was a bit of a kick to the head, especially after such a nice vacation...but on the plus side, I get to spend some time back home and hand-deliver the gifts I bought for friends and family. Plus I didn't fancy arguing with the visa official guy...he might have had me deported on the spot instead. :P

That sucks that you have to leave a month earlier! Well, I wish you luck in your move. That means lots of busy days ahead.
