Odd. I get pretty severe reflux if I lie down too soon after having eaten a meal, and I've had some severe aspiration episodes. They're no fun. Condolences.

I almost feel as if I'm doing the equivalent of re-learning to walk.
As if I could walk over most surfaces just fine, but had to re-learn how to walk on something slippery.

I have no trouble walking, but apparently, my swallowing control doesn't work under all circumstances.

I'm happy that the brain can relearn such things. Keep walking. :)

Happy Birthday, dear friend.

As it happens, I am relearning to walk. Slow going, so far.

But I did learn a trick in the hospital (dealing with the potassium-pills-for-horses they wanted me to take) that might apply to you:

When taking a pill that might trigger choking or gagging, take it with a spoonful of pudding or yogurt. The throat has enough bolus to grip on, and the offending item is lubricated. It completely solved the problem for me, and something like it might help with foods you're finding problematic.

Best wishes!
