the sports thing.. anonymous September 29 2005, 00:39:29 UTC
yeah it really does suck. over 150 people were there and on the "list" that everyone fears. i don't know about the football team or any other team, but the soccer team is fucked for the next 4 games. We're suspending about half the team, and we're also losing 9 out of 11 starters.. I'm happy i get to play now, but i get to play at the expense of our season.. :(

Half of my friends were at that party, and to be completely honest, they aren't over reacting at all. The people who are on sports teams sign a contract saying that they wont even be in the PRESENCE of alchohol or any of that shit. And they were, so I guess they deserve it. Some more than others but hell thats contract obligations.

technically I could be in the presence of alcohol if I walked by the beer fridge at wegmans, or if my parents were having wine with dinner.

But who would report you for walking by a beer fridge?

Would someone own parents tell shambo that you were near them when they were drinking wine?

NOPEEEE.

those are terrible analogies :p

It's all about environments really, and being at a party that serves beer is different than being in a house that has beer in it.

plus if you aren't drinking you haven't done anything wrong
and the only reason why people say shambo is overreacting is because it's all hear-say so there is no physical evidence and people who weren't at the parties are on the list and getting in trouble
if this were brought to court...shambo would lose miserably becuase he's convicting students without ample proof
i rest my case
sincerely kristen

if you payed attention, you would know that PICTURES of the party were posted on the internet. with alcohol being drunk IN them. if four people said you were there than they assume you were, unless your parents say you weren't or you have proof otherwise. and the sports contract thing is fully explained, along with its consquences, at all of the sport meetings that are held at the beginning of every sport season. these meetings are mandatory. and every athlete understands what they are signing, and the consequences of going against it. coaches don't let you play until they are positive you understand.
