So I'm making a cat in a bag.

Waitaminute. That sounded weird. Which was exactly what I intended. Let me explain. Once when I dragged James along to the yarn store, he found a book of crochet patterns for pets. One of these was a chenille "cat in a bag" -- a big bag for your cat to hang out in. We figured the cats would love this. So tonight I've ( Read more... )

Dude. What's the name of the book? I have two kitties who will do exactly the same thing. And a husband who'd act the same way. Plus, attempting to learn to knit and to crochet. Where do I sign?

The book's titled Precious Pets:

Sadly, now that the bag is finished, Katie is just not that interested in it. Even though it's laced with catnip. Stupid kitty.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of knit vs. crochet!

Sounds fun for kitties, and cute. Good luck with the project.

Oh, and cats aren't color-blind. Neither are dogs. They just see a limited range compared to us, but can distinguish colors. It would be very boring going through life in Grayscale.

They can distinguish colors, but they don't pay attention to them the way we do. Blue berries vs. green berries are important to herbi/omnivores, but mice don't come in different colors (well, they do, but it probably doesn't affect the taste). A cat can be taught to press the red lever instead of the blue or green to get a treat, but it's about as hard as getting a human to press the orange-smelling lever rather than the lemon or grapefruit scented one without explaining it. We can tell the difference between the smells, but it's not the first thing we're going to notice.

Kell, if you continue to take the bag away from Katie she's going to get the idea that it's forbidden, which makes a MUCH better sleeping/playing place. "The humans don't want me on the bag? MINE!" *grin*

I pissed my cat off laughing at this (not that he left the lap, mind you). Thanks.

That sounds like something my cats need. What book is this pattern in?

Word of warning, though: Now that I've finished the bag, Katie couldn't care less. Stupid kitty.

Thanks. I found a copy of it at AC Moore yesterday, and after taking a look, I decided that my darlings would probably ignore it when it was done too. They do so enjoy it when I crochet though. It is fun to sleep on the yarn skein while I try to use it, and biting the yarn as it moves is delightful in their opinion.
