yay for this post. i love your domestic updates b/c that's my life too. and yeah, i don't know how ppl do it all with kids too. I'm exhausted enough already and I don't even workout as much as I should.
aw, I'm glad that I don't look a fool when I talk about cooking, kitchen faucets, and wallpaper! i've had a domestic way about me ever since I got my first apartment on my own at age 26. Back then, I was leaving my beloved long-term boyfriend because I just couldn't yet commit to being married. I freaked out when we we were discussing marriage every day. I didn't feel like I had what it took to be someone's partner. I couldn't even keep my own bedroom clean! I dedicated a year and a half in Richmond to learning how to clean, cook, and decorate. I threw lovely dinner parties and always wore a matching shirt-dress and gloves to do my Sunday cleaning. It was ridiculous (and necessary) fun. Man, those were good years. After 5 years in NYC, I am so pleased to get back to really *living* in my home.
I'm not even working and I can't seem to practice yoga more than 3 times a week. What the heck?
hi kellianne- sorry we missed you while you and bmcl traveled xcountry. we were in s.cal. at the time, but really wish we had been up here because we had a train wreck new years eve and would've had a great time with you and bmcl. i had never heard of gado gado before, but just looked it up and am going to prepare it tomorrow night for our dinner and photograph it too. any suggestions of things to do or not do when attempting gado gado? thanks. hope to meet you soon! i'm excited to see the new incarnation of the loft.
I have to admit that I've never made it before, either!! I've just had it once at a restaurant in NY and it was delicious. According to the cookbook I'm using, Gado is great because you can substitute any of the ingredients (namely the veggies) for something you like better. You can also lightly steam them, have them raw, or mix the cooked with the raw.
I'm excited that we're all eating the same things for dinner! It's great to be connected. When I was 21 I used to work at Kinko's Copies. My awesome boss was part of a Lesbian Activist Terrorist Group... and her gang fixed a billboard in the neighborhood to read "It's great to be a lesbian" instead of "It's great to be connected." People didn't notice for a few days because, being good kinko's employees, they rocked that typeset out. I think about that every time I think "it's great to be connected." Nice tangent, right?
It was sad to miss you in CA, but we'll have ample opportunity in the future! I sure hope to meet you and yours before our wedding.
