Have you ever had to interview for a position with a person 5 years younger than you?

And you feel annoyed & confused by the end?

Haven't yet been in that situation, but in my field I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Hope it works out well for you!

You aren't 30 yet, are you? That would be annoying. Now that I'm 47, I'm not surprised to find people younger than me who are in administration. Education is a different animal. If I were a writer, I wouldn't want to listen to someone younger than me telling me how to write.

Actually, I'm 32. I'm not surprised if I interview for a retail or no-collar position and the manager is younger than me. But this was for an editorial spot at a pharmaceutical company, and the guy interviewing me was the Project Mgr. who only just graduated in 2004.

It's yet another sign that my life is being wasted doing crap I don't want to do for people who insist their pathetic existence is better than my pathetic existence.

I don't think you're pathetic. This is a rough job market right now. Hopefully things will start looking up. I didn't know you were 32. Time really flies, doesn't it?

LOL!! I'm old. My bones are brittle and everything. :-P

I don't think my existence is pathetic because I can't find a FT job in this market. I think it borders on pathetic because I'm being stonewalled at every turn for jobs that I don't even WANT and I'm interviewing with managers who want me to beg for a position to be treated like crap.

But it's difficult to change careers when you're not sure what it is you want to do. And I can't stay in limbo forever. I have bills and the longer I idle, the more depressed I'll get.
