Draft tea bowls

Recently, I have had caffeine and insufficient sleep, bad ideas (clay atcs!), and unexpected fish.

Wednesday I dropped by studio briefly with mathhobbit and collected the first round of draft tea bowls back from glazing. Lots of thanks to dcltdw for being interrogated at length on the subject. create_universe, I don't think any of these are quite what you're looking for, but ( Read more... )

I like the look and color of the finish on the amber one. But I don't think the slightly inward curving lip is what I want. The shape of the red/black and blue/green is more along the line of what I was thinking. The broadway blue looks a bit too pastel for what I was going for. I think the blue/green or the red/black would work, though I need to find a ruler to visualize the size better.

Of course, all this is said with the understanding that I never had a firm idea of what precisely I wanted in the first place. And even to my own ears any criticism or comment on my point sounds painfully like ingratitude, which it is obviously not. But I guess I'll wait at least to see what the next batch looks like.

It's a good project! I needed to work on bowls anyway, and I had no idea that I had strong aesthetic opinions about tea bowls until I started trying to make one ( ... )

Do you have a notion of whether you'd prefer a taller or a shorter foot?
