More blithering about clay -- the latest thing back from glazing is a tiny trumpet-flower goblet. Sadly it has cracks in the glaze inside the bottom & is unsuitable for food, but I think it's cute anyway.

Per request there's now kelkyag_dw, which might be a better plan than posting cross-links. I still have dreamwidth codes if anyone'd like one.

The trumpet flower goblet is gorgeous! I love the shape and curling vines and the glaze effect is great too!

Thank you! I got wicked lucky with the glazes.

I'm thinking to try to build another one a bit more deliberately to see if I can make it large enough to be useful (and avoid the extra-thick glaze cracking). I'd love suggestions on what to keep or change.

Wow...the trumpet flower goblet is as pretty a stoneware piece as I've ever seen. It has an Art Nouveau feel too it; reminds me of Mucha's flower studies. It's absolutely charming!

I don't think it comes close to the precision of Art Nouveau, but I am most flattered by the comparison. I do want to try it again, though, and scale it up enough to be usable for more than cordials (though a flower-flavored liquour would be nifty) -- I'm not sure how gracefully that will work, doubly so since I'm still getting a hang of how much clay shrinks in firing. Fun to try, though!

Oh, that trumpet-flower thing is CUTE.

Is dreamwidth any good? Would I like it?
