(First of all, before I start, I do realize I told you I was reading this, oh, 5 hours ago. Let's just say I got a little distracted with the finale of The Amazing Race and then an unnecessary nap on the couch. Oops. I totally fail at life sometimes.)

But ...

Awww! I love it! Definitely, by far, the strangest Addie/Derek fic I've ever read, but I don't care. Seriously. The thought of him traveling all over the country just to find her makes me all warm & happy inside. Because if I was Shonda, this is totally how I would end Grey's (and not just cuz it would be fun to piss off all the Derek/Meredith fans).

Things I loved (besides him going to all lengths to find her): the fact that they could both feel the other one was still alive, the letters he wrote to her, the kid & Jacob, her hallucinating that he was there & Mark being good enough to go along with it, and the fact that they ended up in Amarillo, Texas, because I've been there and it really is the middle of nowhere

Definitely, by far, the strangest Addie/Derek fic I've ever read Honestly, I think this is - by far - the strangest fic I've ever written. Or thought about writing.

I'm so glad you liked it. I was a little worried, partly because I hadn't written them in years and partly because my first foray into writing Addison/Derek in years involved aliens and that's just something you either hit on the head or miss so terribly it goes down in flames.

I have a couple of Google Maps saved for this fic; I'm such a dork (also - in addition to being apocafic, most everything I've written lately is roadtrip!fic. What's up with that?). But when I had the map drawn for New York → Tuba City, AZ and it went straight through Amarillo, I knew that it needed to be where they met up. It's big enough to be recognizable, but I don't think anyone outside of Texas could really point out where it is in the state.

Haha, thank you! I think I need to branch out from the virus thing, but I'm not really good with natural disasters. We'll see. :)

I feel like I need to slap a warning on this. Warning: Author invokes aliens. Things are weird. Oh well. I didn't even want Mark in it, but the way I'd written the first scene required that there be someone else Addison knows in the room and since I'd already determined that having Addison and Derek together from the start was going to make for an awfully boring fic, Mark it was.
