This is a pretty entertaining AU! I liked the image of Mark and Addison looting a grocery store for cereal and vitamins...

as a few interns with kitchen skills served up better-than-usual eggs, hash browns and pancakes,
They musta had more well rounded interns in New York! If this had been left to M/C/A/G etc the Seattle staff would have starved! Though Izzie might have been able to do it singlehandedly!

I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I've had apocafic on the brain lately and this came to me as I was leaving my apartment this morning. I wrote it at work. Honestly, I had no idea whether it was going to work with a Grey's cast or not (still don't, really), but I like it.

Addison stealing anything is an entertaining thought. I have this theory that she was a total delinquent as a child and had a treehouse stashed full of random crap she snagged from neighbor's yards.

I'm convinced that everybody who was ever a college student learned, at some point, how to make killer scrambled eggs. I may be wrong.

I know what you mean. Apocafics are strangely inticing. I once wrote an Alex/Addison (if you squint) apocafic of sorts. They're very... liberating!

Even Cristina?! Haha.

They really are. I've been writing a lot of apocafic lately (though, admittedly in a totally separate and unrelated fandom) and I may be addicted. I think it's better than ice cream. They're great because you can throw everything your character has to deal with daily out the window. What was that Alex/Addison one?

I said I may be wrong!

I love this! Anything Maddisoncentric is made of win. The idea of Mark and a pregnant Addison stealing a car, raiding a drug store, arguing over which music to listen to, driving and camping across the country- fanfreakentastic!

This is pretty fucking good. Reminds me of Children of Men, especially the end.

Thanks! I've been meaning to read Children of Men; I think it needs to get bumped higher on the To Read list.

The book's good, the movie is AMAZING. Clive Owen and Micheal Caine, it doesn't get much better haha.

I'm not usually into these things, so this took me by surprise. It took me a second skim to figure out that this was meant to be pre- or mid-S1, not current, because I read AU and went to current. Clearly I'm a moron, but anyway.

I thought I'd find this a little disturbing, but it's strangely believable. (And I guess that's disturbing. :P) The whole pace fits perfectly. It feels kind of light and kind of clunky simultaneously, which I mean as a good thing, and the Eddie Izzard references made me smile. Because really, that there is prime post-apocalypse entertainment. ;)

You're not a moron. I didn't put a timeline in the header and, except for the beginning and end, it really could've been dropped into any season.

I'm glad it was believable (maybe that's the disturbing bit). And I know what you mean about light and clunky; combining simple with bizarrely specific is something I was going for. I'd imagine that, at the end of the world, you'd focus on the weirdly specific things rather than the big picture. Eddie Izzard is gold.

Thank you! ♥

ok, it's been so long since you've written anything of my favorite ship, but i'll take anything i can get. at this rate, i feel really lucky i got to read this at all. and, surprise, i love it. the summary alone. damn. how can you not want that. addison and mark in a post-apocalyptic journey to reunite with their best friend.

mark bashing a window, then holding up a pink brontosaurus keychain with what i can imagine to be his trademark smirk. - god how sexy is that image in my head.

mark and addison sitting under the stars not knowing where they're headed next.

finding derek and meredith and actually laughing about their predicament. it is an odd situation but i can believe that they would laugh.

i've always wondered about an apocalypse myself.. blame it on watching too many resident evil type movies. but because you made mark and addison go through this interesting shit together , and saved their daughter in it, this is just made out of so much win in my book. Thanks so much! <3

addendum: the song you attached is perfect and really makes this entire apocalypse/post-apocalypse real. i almost get goosebumps listening to it and reading at the same time.

and just wondering.. why the title? guess i'm too lazy to look through the entire fic to figure it out. heh.

Bear McCreary is a genius and it's a fucking crime that he was never nominated (and therefore never won) an Emmy for his work on Battlestar Galactica.

The title is a reference to the Doomsday Clock. It's a symbol used by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists to represent how close we are to global disaster. The closer the clock is to midnight, the closer we are to the end of the world.
