gravity of love requests. YAY :)
i love picturing Mark as this kind of stable person, a reliable dad who waits for his daughter to come home. it's very warm and fluffy, and everything Mark can't imagine himself to be but deep down he is. it would take a lifelong commitment such as marriage and some kids to bring that out, but it's just wonderful to read about such a Mark. you write their family so beautifully. I love the album-flipping too. I'd want to take a peek at that Montgomery-Sloan family album :D

He traces his finger over the face of their daughter, a picture taken the day they took her home. “I’m gonna miss you next year,” he whispers to the six-month old, now eighteen with sassy blonde curls and a smile that still makes him cave.

Beautiful. That's really all I can come up with at 4 in the morning. I don't know how you manage to turn such simple events like a father waiting up for his daughter into such perfect little stories, but I'm definitely glad you can :)

This is lovely. I'm in quite the sentimental mood right now (the holidays tend to do that to me) and this piece definitely amplified that mood, sparking a few happy tears and watery smile at the end. Kudos, dear. Gorgeous work.
