book rec?

I don't think I've asked this one before: one of the categories for the reading challenge is a book with a love triangle. (See my icon for my reaction.) It's probably the overabundance of coverage with the Twilight and Hunger Games films that has soured me on the topic; so many reporters on the red carpet ask "Team Jacob or Team Edward?" because ( Read more... )

I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but let me think on it.

Thanks. I have eleven months to find one, so there's no rush. (If all else fails, I have one to read, but I've already read it.)

The Tomorrow series with the subsequent Ellie Chronicles has one that isn't too annoying.

I'd have to look at my bookcase for more ideas.

The Lions of al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay.

This is a totally gorgeous read, it has a subtle triangle that shouldn't exist and all the players involved know it. I can't say more or I'd spoil one of the most poignant parts. Truly worth your time though.

Sounds perfect! I will look for it at the library. If not there, then the local used book stores.

How about "Sense and Sensibility"?

I plan to read it this year -- I got an annotated edition last month -- but I've decided to read as many new-to-me books as I can for the challenge. A chance to broaden my horizons, and all that.

I'd say Pride and Prejudice, but you've probably read that already!

Hmmm ... If you haven't read The Phantom of the Opera, you might enjoy it. I can't precisely recommend it because I read it at age 12 at the height of my Phantom musical mania, so I don't actually know whether the book is any good. (It certainly made an impact on 20th century American culture, though.)

This site suggests a variety of stories with love triangles, some of which are novels: https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-best-love-triangles-in-literature-and-film?share=1

(I have read one novel since then where he's bald, but that was for magical reasons. It helped that he was a grouch, too.♥♥♥)

Wait ... are you talking about Hartgrave?

Thank you very much for the link to the love triangles. I couldn't think of any that I'd heard of but hadn't read.

Yeah, I meant your Hartgrave. What a grouch; I love him.

Aw, thanks!

Good luck -- hope you find something with a palatable triangle.

I will give Arynwy's suggestion a try for the love triangle book. If I don't like it, I'll figure something else out.
