As is my usual practice, I reserve the right to be as fair or as prejudiced as I want when it comes to pimping fics. I try to find fics I like whose authors don't have LJs or don't seem to be widely known (not a lot of reviews, for example).

I absolutely agree with you. You have inspired me to pimp some really excellent stories that aren't on the Obvious Nominations List... I don't read nearly as much as you do, but there are some outstanding pieces that need to be seriously looked at this round. (I don't have nearly as many on the f-list, but I'll go the "a few votes can make a difference!" route... :D)

I started out this pimping thing when the first round of the Awards geared up. It was a bit more important to ferret out the overlooked stuff, I thought, since the oldest SSHG fics had been written four or five years before. Many of those authors have since moved on. It didn't really matter in the end; The only fics that I pimped that made it to the final nominations list were by authors who were still in the fandom, like Subversa. There are some quality fics out there that weren't acknowledged as I thought they should, because their authors have gone on. But I felt like I'd made a decent effort anyway.

I went looking for a seasonal layout last night, since Halloween was close to being over. I felt like making a change, and I didn't want to go back to the same blue sky and green hills, pretty as they are.
