Reading Challenge: 2016's Master List

Dec 31, 2015 21:35

I've done some working, researching, and revising, and I've come up with a challenge for 2016 that I like. I have a quota of total books to read, a quota of new-to-me books to read, and some of those new-to-me books will have categories like last year. A few categories are repeats from last year, some are from PopSugar and Book Riot, and some ( Read more... )

I need to figure out if I'm doing a challenge or not.

2015 is the only year I've done something like this, but I know I benefited from it. On the other hand, I did tweak things quite a bit to suit what I want out of the year ahead. I'll probably tweak them again in 2017.

I just don't want it to be work, ya know? That's the quickest way to make it so I don't want to read.

The one I just finished became work toward the end, because I'm whiny and used to books being "mood food." I'm not good at sticking with books (or college courses or boyfriends) I'm not really, really into. And when there were only a few categories left, and none of the books I wanted to read fit them, I said "Fuck it!" and ran off. I almost didn't finish the challenge because there were other things I wanted to read besides Bloodhound. So -- now that I've made a short story long -- I know what you mean. That's why I chose only 26 categories, though I intend to read a lot more books than that.

Even if you find you only have time to read one book every few months, that's still four or six books you hadn't read before. And please feel free to use the categories above. Some were my ideas, some came from last year's and this year's PopSugar challenges, as well as this year's Book Riot Challenge. Maybe you'll like those challenges better, so poke around the websites and see what you find! Be realistic about what you can accomplish, and please blog about what you read. My to-read list is miles long, but I'm always curious about what my friends are reading.
