Misery holds a special place in my heart. It was the movie my husband and I saw on our first date. Wow - yeah, a first date movie.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I don't think I could watch the movie -- the hobbling scene would probably do me in -- but the book was appropriately thrilling!

Actually, I recently read an article about how they choose to hobble the writer versus chopping his foot off int he book and the reason why they did it for narrative purpose and how the movie creators thought it was just too much for the screen: https://www.yahoo.com/movies/best-foot-floorward-the-inside-story-of-190008689.html

There's even pictures of the prosthetic legs the used to make it look like James Caan's real legs..

Gruesome! The article was interesting -- thank you for the link -- but I can't watch that YouTube clip of the hobbling scene. Too squeamish.

I don't know how close the book is to the film, because I don't think I could stomach the film. The written word was scary enough!

The book was scary enough. The visual of the hobbling scene might make me a bit queasy, though; I'm not taking chances with it, though I've heard the film was very good. And I like Kathy Bates. Horror isn't really my thing, though. Life is scary enough without fear being entertainment.
