I haven't read any of the books that are principally reviewed here, but I'm in complete agreement regarding Sharpe. He's caused me to laugh aloud in busses, trains, an aeroplane, and school dining halls. Books that make me laugh aloud are rare, indeed. Off of the top of my head, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the only other example that I can think of.
