Yup, his first impulse was to drain Goku dry til the evry last drop, not turn him. He was very thirsty. But then Sanzo developed feelings for Goku. That's when the real trouble started.

That;s just the point. Sanzo wanted to eat Goku, and vampire blood is distasteful for vampires. Hence no fangy Goku! Well, according to Sanzo.

I have very mixed feelings about writing Goku. His simplicity is beautiful, he doesn't spend days and weeks agonising over a spilt cup of milk, he mops up and drinks his coffee black for the day. It's awesome and very frustrating at the same time, because it's very hard to get a decent wordcount from a character who makes choices and lives with them, for better or worse. Where the heck am I supposed t get my drama? XD

XD Okay I give up, I'm sorry if it's a dumb question, but it's been bugging me for so long now I really need to ask what Hakkai meant by asking Sanzo "whether they are still coming to claw at your skin."

It's a reference to this moment, in part 16:

“Tell me, are they here yet?”

Sanzo started.

“Oh yes, I know about the darkness. I hardly think you should be surprised. You see them yet? See them crawling out of the shadowy corners, all the people you had destroyed. I always found madness to be a bit of a paradox, myself.”

Vampires have hallucinations when they start losing it, Hakkai is asking Sanzo whether he still has them, as a reminder of how very not in control of himself he is.
