Wow. Grim and unleavened. Ray's on a real rollercoaster in this one.

Yeah, this one came out pretty ugly. Welcome back, and thanks for reading, Cath!

I cannot WAIT to listen to this recording. I love your voice so much and this is exactly the kind of grim, gritty, depressed!Ray fic that perfectly suits your reading style.

Not, uh, that you have a depressing voice. I meant what I said about the noir-ish quality, but you can also do happy. Just...can't wait. *flails*

*laughs* I've been typecast as a Chicago flatfoot with experimental hair and ISSUES. I think Marisol may have learned Engilsh in the Soviet Union. That explains her accent.

Thanks, Nos, hope you like the podfic!

Okay, so I hadn't reread Marisol since you originally posted this back in October. And I listened to the podfic just yesterday. And I'd forgotten what an emotional wallop this thing packs.

I really liked the podfic. I love your voice and you did a wonderful job of making Ray and Marisol come to life. A little touch that I really enjoyed : when you said the title, you said Marisol's name properly. But when Ray was saying her name to himself, you said it like a non-Hispanic person would have. Liked that. Another audible touch that I liked was that Marisol's accent got thicker when she got pissed, which is often the case in real life. Little things like that made the podfic really stand out.

And I really do like the fic. It really shows how close to the edge Ray is, how desperate, how lost. Wonderfully bleak, stark and angsty. Great job on both of them.

Thank you, akamine_chan! I appreciate the detailed feedback, and the way you focused in on things you lied about my reading. It really is a pretty grim little story, isn't it?
