So John has compassion for all creatures, great and small! Or maybe just a soft spot for bees. Either way, I approve. :)

I couldn't work it into the 221B, but Sherlock's especially preplexed because, just a month earlier, he saw John systematically kill dozens, if not hundreds, of ants that had made a mest in the cupboard. John is such a puzzle to him.

Thanks, tardisjournal!

Ooo, intriguing backstory! Maybe you could write a prequel, prompts willing. Or a sequel where Sherlock asks John to explain this most vexing contradiction. :-p

John probably uses a jar and cardboard to get the spiders in Sherlock's bedroom too. ("I'm not afraid of them, John," Sherlock insists from 20 feet away, while his flatmate rescues the arachnid on the ceiling over his bed.)

Oh, well done, John! It can't have been easy resisting the temptation to smack Sherlock on the head, but the bee was much more important than a moment of gratification. ;-)

Yes, the 'hit me in the face' was entirely sub-text that time. *grins* Thanks, monkeybard!
