Man, I remember when Golden Witchbreed came out - got my copy through the SFBC and remember struggling with it - I should have loved it - main female character, but it was mostly incomprehensible to me. *sigh*
I did read that book (the Swedish version is in my bookcase), but it's been years, and I don't remember what it's about, and don't remember whether I enjoyed it, either. So it obviously didn't make much of an impression...
I liked it, but it's sprawling. Huge cast of characters that the narrator interacts with, vast world the narrator travels around with long, loving descriptions of everything from the flora to the local couture ... even the names of the characters are long and full of apostrophes and change, depending on the circumstances. Reminded me a bit of a classic Russian novel, in that way.
