Challenge 1 Seasons Change
So I chose to make a Mood Board based around the Summers of my childhood.

- beach - We lived about 2 hours away from the nearest beach, so going to one was a big deal and not something that happened often. Unless we stayed with my grandmother who lived down the road from Bondi Beach which is the beach in this picture.
- Ice Blocks/Cream and pool noodles - Some years we practically lived at the pool. Sitting on the grass and eating ice cream and fooling around with pool toys in the water was so much fun.
- Palm trees - a lot of the beaches up towards Queensland have palm trees and it was always a cool thing to see them as there weren't any around where we lived. You knew you were in another state when you started seeing the palm trees! (they're pretty common here now though.)
- BBQ - You can't have summer without a BBQ! At least once a month my family would have BBQ sausages and steak for lunch. It didn't look anything like that picture, it was a handmade brick bbq with a large grill and we'd light a real fire on the ground under it (this was back in the 70s/80s). I added the "sizzle" words because when I think of BBQ I hear the pop and sizzle of the sausages cooking.
- Santa on the Beach. Christmas in December is summer here in Australia so its not uncommon to see Santas on the beach. Usually they are little less dressed than this. Swim trunks and Santa Hat. ;)

"Life's a Beach" is the font "{¡Estoy Bueno!}"
"Ho Ho Hot" and "Sizzle" is the font Bacon Kingdom.
4 Colors:
Blue for the sky and the ocean.
Tan for the colour of the sand.
Yellow for the sunshine.
Orange for the colour of heat, fire, ice blocks.
Summer was always a mix of fear and fun. Where we live there is always a threat of bushfire in Summer so that was always a fear, but we got to go to the beach, spend our days at the pool swimming, hang out with neighbourhood kids (of all ages) and just be free in a way that we weren't when it was school time and you had to stick to the social rules. I wouldn't go back to that time, but the memory of that is why I like Summer.
