Tony, lately, had taken to not leaving his room until he absolutely needed to. Although some weeks had passed since his attack on Mimmi, Kevas's threat still hung fresh in his mind, and his always-strong sense of self-preservation had kicked into overdrive as of late.
Which was why, when he had opened his door this time to find himself facing the executioner's block, he immediately slammed his door shut. Stumbling away from it, he glanced around the room for anything he could use to block the door, just in case, and settled on shoving the night stand in front of it.
He didn't really need anything out there, anyway. He was fine in here.
He had been sitting on his bed, but at the thump on the door, he leapt up, eyes widening.
Whoever was there could knock on the door until their hands were bloody stubs- he was not going to open that door. Shaking, he sits slowly on the bed again, trying to steady his breathing, trying to think. He'd gotten himself out of worse before.
Derek'd been expecting something since he got out of the tunnels, so he wasn't exactly surprised at the announcement. If anything, it was - less than he'd been thinking it might be. It was still stupid, and it didn't make him regret what he'd done, so it wasn't even effective. Ineffective and idiotic, great justice system they had going here.
But he'd kicked down the door knowing he'd probably be punished for it, and he wasn't going to try and get out of it now. Still better him than most of the others he'd been with.
When he opened the door to his room and found himself staring at the executioner's block, he paused only briefly to stare. Then he grimaced, stood up a little straighter, and stepped out, closing the door behind him.
This place sure is pretty! The grass is vibrant and green and in a lot of ways reminds our little shaman of the Gran Plain. She really misses home and Stocke and maybe the others too, but mostly Stocke. There's not really a lot of time for her to get sad cause, hey, what's going on over the fence? Aht's just gonna stop and watch curiously.
Kevas wasn't going to miss this. He wanted to see what they did to that bastard and Kevas wanted to him squirm. What he didn't want to see though, was Aht watching this too. Everyone had to face the cruelty of the world eventually, but a girliemon like her could stand to be a girliemon just a little be longer.
Walking over to her, Kevas smiled and gently pat her on the head. "Well hey dere girliemon. Whatchu be doin' here?" He might be standing in front of her so that she couldn't get a good look at what was going on.
Aht does indeed have to lean, on one foot even, to get a look. She heard the cane striking Derek's hand, and the sound makes her cringe, so she winds her hand up to catch Kevas's shirt.
She's a child of war, so violence isn't something unheard of. Especially if you've seen and done some of the things she's seen and done. Still. She's not used to people being punished like this. She looks up at him, eyes a little wide.
Kevas knelt down in front of her, intent on keeping from seeing what's going on. The last thing he wanted to do right was explain what's going on here. Alright maybe that wasn't the last thing he wanted to explain to her but he still rather not have her witness this. It didn't matter whether you're accustom to violence or not, torture was always a hard thing to stomach.
"Cuz dis Lord Deoir be a foolish mon wid foolish rules, and if joo break dem he punishes joo. Only one of dose mons be desuhvin' punishments dough."
He looked over at Derek, grimacing, before looking back to Aht. Battery was no reason to end up in the stocks.
"But joo ain't gotta worry 'bout dat. Joo won't end up up dere."
Punishments were one of the few forms of entertainment here, even if Sollux had issues with them. It didn't seem likely he'd see blood in this one, but it was still a show. Even if he kind of liked Derek and had no idea who that other guy was.
For the time being he'd just sit back and watch. Once it was done maybe he'd talk to Derek and he'd probably throw some things at Tony just because he could. No rocks, though, that was probably a trap.
Chloe noticed the crowd, first. Then the executioner's block, some thing that looked like the grim reaper, and Derek. Heart starting to beat in triple time, Chloe ran towards Derek--as close as she was able to get to him in any matter. No matter what she was thinking or feeling right now, she couldn't allow Derek to face this alone.
"D--Derek!"
She knew she couldn't stop it. She knew Derek would accept this punishment. It didn't mean she had to like it, or the idea didn't repel her. She had known people would get punished for harming on another. Even if they were not in control over their own actions. But this--she pushed her anger aside. She was worried and afraid, and she couldn't completely keep down her rising panic.
That Chloe was not expecting. A startled yelp caught in the back of her throat before she could cut it off.
She stopped.
She had never, in all her life, seen anything that looked like this. Not in all her years of being a necromancer. Heart in her throat, Chloe tried to look past the Headsman and toward Derek, noting the Headsman's other version was still there. Either he could duplicate, or he had a brother. Sister?
"P-please. C-can I not s-see him now?" Her nerves were already shot. She didn't know what to make of this spirit-like thing before her. Or, if she reached out now, could she touch it? She didn't think she wanted to find out.

He does not reach Tony for many minutes, but when he does, his presence is announced with the hard thump of his fist against the door.

Still. He'd been through worse. He moved forward, up to the executioner's block.

Or at least he hoped she never did.

He did not take an offensive stance; he merely held up his hand.
