ANY DANCE \o/ or you can say you caught him when he's resting for a minute or something idk stillseecracks October 19 2011, 08:39:56 UTC
The last dance Xanth attended had gone... surprisingly well, all things considered, and while this is not a formal dance, Xanth's opinion is that he might have a good time here.

He really needs to have a good time.

He's stopped holing himself up in his room, at least, and he's eating more! (His hair is still ridiculously long, but he sort of likes it like this and he hasn't felt like cutting it.)

These dances are fun, at the very least. And they change partners so often!

Who is Xanth's partner next?

Defeat has swiftly turned to anger. It was a never ending cycle, but Aara clung to the boiling rage simmering within her once more because at least then she would feel something. She was angry with that man she spoke to. Angry at the situation. Angry with her past, and the way her Clan used to make her feel.

Angry with herself, knowing she would respond to things in exactly the same way Kloe now was. She didn't like drawing so many parallels between them. She didn't like the feeling of disgust, and hurt, and betrayal now lying heavily on her heart.

She should leave. She should tell Kloe she wasn't going, either. At least then Kloe wouldn't hurt in the ways Aara had in the past. She turns to do just that and collides with someone. Hard. A snarl rips from her throat and part of her wants to let go. Be angry. Revel in the power swiftly coursing through her.

Then she notices it's Xanth and her head reels. She chokes back what she had been about to say, and freezes.

The collision knocks Xanth back a step. He coughs once - mostly out of surprise, but partly because it winds him, just a little. He hears that snarl and expects someone imposing, someone irritated and threatening and willing to take his head off for this one mistake -

But it's Aara.

She looks furious.

Xanth stands there for a moment, mouth agape, and then he comes back to attention. He reaches a hand out, as if to touch her shoulder, but then he pulls it back.

"Are... a-are you... o-okay?"

He has to ask. Aara, furious... something has happened. Something must have.

And now, on top of everything, her anger scared someone she considered a friend. Xanth wouldn't even allow himself to touch her, and Aara ground her teeth together, tilting her head back so her face was to the ceiling. She wanted to scream, and it took all her will-power to withhold the sound and expel it in a hiss instead.

"No."

No, she was not okay. No, they should not be talking. Aara should not be allowed in the same room with people. Not while she was like this. Not while she was so completely consumed by her rage that she was causing her friends to fear her. Who was she fooling? This was her idea of control? She was barely keeping a handle on it, and even then raw bits escaped and she lashed out. Wasn't this proof enough?

"I should not be here."

Not like this. Never like this.

Any dance! \o/ aswanbyday October 19 2011, 19:08:58 UTC
Odette had planned to arrive as soon as she had changed. It had been quite some time since she had danced like this. It made her realize the longer she was here, the more it reminded her of home. Not the boat, but her real home. The place she had been born and raised in. And it made her feel something she hadn't felt in a long time. Homesickness. She missed Jean-Bob and Speed and a part of her missed Derek too.

But she wasn't going to think about that. Not now. Her mind is concentrating on the steps. She's laughing as she dances. Doesn't matter if her partner's experienced or not, she's patient to show them how to do it correctly. Or you know, she's just as happy to make it up as they go along.

Tumnus was amongst those playing for the dancers, but that did not mean the faun was completely tied in one spot. For when a break comes in his own piping he takes advantage and moves from the stage to stretch a bit.

His gaze moves around the dancers as he takes a break, and his expression warms as he spies Odette moving between partners of various ability. Seeing his chance, the faun moves in and poaches her properly from her current partner.

He offers her a warm grin, "Are you having a good time, miss Odette?"

Odette was a little surprised to be poached so quickly. But when she sees who the thief is, she can't help but smile. She had only known Mr. Tumnus for a short time, but she was certainly fond of the faun. His gentlemanly nature certainly did not hurt her favor of him.

She smiled at him and nodded. "I am. I haven't danced like this since I was a child."

Tumnus returns Odette's smile warmly, glad for her answer. "I am glad you are enjoying yourself. It has been a good while since I have enjoyed dancing such as this, let alone with a partner so versed in the steps."

Dancing! Mimmi loves dancing! Unlike some things, dancing only ever gives her good, happy memories. Like back home when her parents taught her how to before the war. Or the times they heard something good on the radio while they were hiding. And even back on the ship during parties (when they didn't end up like that last Halloween party, augh), like the masquerade. She'd always been good at it.

So the opportunity to learn a few different dances was an offer she couldn't refuse, no matter how terrible she'd been feeling lately.

Logan was just having himself a walk, when he happened across the bower. He peeked in when he heard the music and was going to duck out the minute he saw the dancing. Oh hell no. Mimmi is spotted out of the corner of his eye and...well he can't resist a pretty girl. So he'll stroll up to her just long enough to see if she wants to ditch this and go makeout do something else.

"What're you doin' in here?"

Mimmi certainly wasn't expecting to see Logan around. When he speaks, she smiles up at him and gestures to everyone else.

"Dancing, of course. Are you here to join in?"

"No."

He looked around. Do you realize the only reason he's going is to get drunk?

"The hell are they doing, anyway?"

Beware the emotional angha? XD OR DON'T angha_firebird October 19 2011, 22:23:57 UTC
Aara was still uptight, and she didn't know if she wanted to dance or play guard at Kloe's door. Tightly coiled anger snapped from within, and it was seriously taking all of her self-control not to snap at someone merely walking by her.

She did not know what was worse--the anger that only seemed to grow within her, or the immense feeling of sorrow that came with it. She was determined to have an amazing night at the festivity, but now she debated silently with herself whether or not the night had already been ruined. Kloe would be missing out, after all. And if she saw that man there... she might ( ... )

Alex knew perfectly well how Aara felt, although he was rather on the other side of things. He wasn't happy with having been brutally mauled, nor or contracting the zombie virus, nor of dying rather traumatically in his lovers arms. He didn't particularly hate, Kloe, but he wasn't thrilled with her post and all the ensuing clusterfuck that had followed ( ... )

She tenses, eyes flitting over to Alex, then breathes out a heavy sigh, gaze shifting away as her jaw sets.

"No."

At least she was being truthful. Too much. What she was feeling was too much, and Aara hadn't felt so many strong emotions rioting inside of her for so long she doesn't know what to do. She can't even place a name for each one, because soon that emotion molds and coils to form another one.

"I am angry. Hurt." She swallows, brows drawing together as she turns her face away. She does not want her friend to see how terrible this is affecting her.

"Confused," She finally admits the last, a defeated sigh escaping.

There is no denying the set to her jaw and the tension in her stance, even before she answers him. He doesn't know any way that she could have played off her current state of mind, as she was obviously upset, but she might have tried at any rate.

He listens silently as she looks away and answers, her emotions on her sleeve. He could just nod, but he moves in where she moved away and actually hugs her into him, drawing her close.

"I'm sorry." He murmurs it gently to her, holding her close. Sorry for the clusterfuck that it became, sorry that she got involved, sorry that Justice lashed out. Sorry that this might cause a terrible rift between the two of them.

Dancing? Forget it. His humanoid body was too awkward and unwieldy for anything like that. But the music coming from the hall was gorgeous, and Ezra found himself gravitating towards it and before he knew it there he was in the doorway, watching the lesson in progress.

Well, no one said he had to participate, right? So Ezra sneaks along the wall, doing his best to keep a low profile as he sits himself down to spy on the proceedings and, more importantly, enjoy the fruits of the musicians' labours.

So, I hear you like music, Ezra. faun_tumnus October 20 2011, 15:50:47 UTC
Tumnus had been rather delighted to hear the request for musicians and dancers, particularly being as how he was well versed in the dances they were teaching. It was one of the few times that the faun felt completely at ease in the Keep and not overwhelmed by the things around him; which was how he felt a good part of the time.

He plays his flute in time with the other musicians, hoof tapping in time with the beat. Although, in truth, he is moving around quite a lot with the music as well.

As taken as he is by the tune, however, he does not miss the arrival of Ezra; nor how he seems to be rather taken by the music itself. During a break in the song he glances at the boy, ears flicking in interest.

"You are enjoying the music, I trust?"

Ezra is jerked out of his reverie by the sound of the faun's voice. Oh, right. There were other people here. His eyes trail upwards to meet Tumnus's, a bit surprised at seeing a faun (it had been a while since he last saw one, after all), but probably more surprised at just being spoken to.

And then he sees the flute in his hands, and realizes that he's one of musicians and nods eagerly. "Yeah. Of course I am. You're-- it's really good."

Tumnus takes in the appearance of the lad while the lad in turn looks him pointedly up and down. At least this time, it appear that he might be fae of some sort, which Tumnus was far more accustomed to.

The lad's gaze alights on his pan pipes and he brightens considerably, earning him a bright smile from the faun at the praise.

"I am glad to hear so, and my many thanks! I play because I enjoy it and it brings pleasure to others, so I am most pleased."
