Chloe nodded. She did know. "Speaking of... that...I made a new friend," Chloe murmured happily, glancing at Derek to see his expression. "He's really great. Reminds me of you and Simon, really, along with some kids at my old school." She decided to wait and garner his reaction before telling him this new 'friend' of hers was a were-leopard. She waited with baited breath, knowing she wouldn't get an all out enthusiastic reaction, but hoping there was a chance Alex and Derek could be friends, at least ( ... )

They should be used to it by now. They really should.

Chloe would disagree, Derek. She will only admit to some of those things being dumb, and continues to tell herself you would have come around and agreed with her. Eventually.

Beaming, Chloe nods before saying, "Yeah. Locked doors can't keep us out." They had to snoop around for answers too often to allow such things to stop them.

Derek hoped Chloe was happy in her delusions, then. No, wait, he didn't, because that meant she was going to go right on being dumb. Maybe if she changed 'some' to 'most,' they'd have a deal.

He grunted his agreement. Well. Most locked doors, anyway. He didn't have any illusions about his ability to get through some high tech vault lock or anything. Not that he wouldn't try if he had too. He'd been doing research on it, after all.

He lead them up to the second level of the barracks where their rooms were, then paused, eyeing them. "Which one?" It didn't really matter much, after all.

No deal. Not quite yet, anyway.

A light shrug at his question, then she simply heads to the door with her number by it. "We can hang in here." She opens the door to her room, looking back to see if Derek followed and mjams aside so he can get through the door.

She'll come around.

"Okay," he agreed easily. Wasn't like he had a particular attachment to the place he'd woken up in, after all. Especially considering he hadn't really been back to it.

He followed her into the room, glancing around. "Looks as good as anywhere to hide from a storm."

Chloe re-examined her small room after Derek entered, making the feel of the room much smaller. At least his was a familiar presence. Still, she hadn't gotten a good look at the room yet, and now she made a face.

"There isn't any hot water," She mentioned, the edges of her lips curving downward. She wasn't happy about that fact.

Then, with a sigh and a small one-shouldered shrug, Chloe walks over to her small bed and sits at one end, a look of boredom upon her face. "What now?"

"I've noticed," he replied. At least the days when he had two shower twice a day were gone.

He leaned against the wall on the opposite side of the room. "Least it's better than cleaning up in public bathrooms?"

Derek paused, then asked, "You don't believe this crap about our universe not existing anymore, do you?"

"There is that," She readily agreed.

The muscles in her body tightened, and Chloe froze. Then she looked up to where Derek was leaning against the wall, and a bit of her insecurities gave way. "I don't believe it. We have no prove. It's like the doctors and nurses at Lyle House trying to shove their diagnosis down my throat again. But... I still worry. I won't believe it until I have all the facts. Proof. But..."

That didn't mean she wasn't worried. Afraid.

He smiled at her. That was his girl. He'd known she wouldn't just buy into it without proof, he'd mostly just wanted to reassure her that he didn't buy it, either. That everyone was still out there.

"Yeah. I know." Derek'd be worried anyway, without all that shit about universes not existing any more. He hesitated for a long moment. "Have you tried contacting Liz?"

She knew Derek wouldn't buy into whatever brought them here. He was always one for the facts. He was always second guessing everyone and everything. He was a fighter, yes, when it came to protecting those he cared about, but he was also a thinker. If Chloe ever listened to what someone had to say, it was Derek.

When it involved plotting and escape at least. Ghost things she dealt with herself.

Her shoulders slumped at his question. "More than I've ever tried before. Nothing. D-Derek..." She hesitates, stays quiet for a second. "Derek..." She starts again, unable to look at him. A hand lifts, and she clutches at her amulet. "I haven't seen a single ghost yet. Not a spirit, or a recurring death loop... nothing. I was told someone died here and later came back to life. Not as a zombie. The girl was alive. There was a mention about amnesia, but it supposedly didn't last."

Finally her gaze sought Derek's. "I don't know what that means." For them, or for her powers. "Something isn't right here."

The slight stutter got his attention instantly. Whatever she was going to tell him, it wasn't good.

"Nothing?" Derek asked, frowning. He wished it meant that nobody had died here, so there was nothing to see, but he knew that wasn't likely. It was more likely that this place had some kind of spell on it, or something. Like back at Lyle House, when the ghost that had been trying to warn them couldn't get through.

"This place-" He cut off, shaking his head. "Whatever's at work here, it's more powerful than I thought was possible." He didn't like it, at all. Especially not the dying and coming back to life. Power like that - it didn't bode well at all.

She wasn't too enthused by the fact that she couldn't contact Liz, either. It would have been nice having a ghost around who could help them mettle out what was going on here. "Not a whisper. I was starting to think something was off with me. With my abilities and what-not. Then I neared the forest and sensed... something not right in there. It was actually kind of a relief." The corner of her mouth twitches upwards at that. "Who would have thought I would be relieved to sense some spook or dead body, right?"

Chloe nodded solemnly at his words. "It has to be. To do everything that has been done? Dragging people from other universes? It's... too much to wrap my mind around at the moment."

Derek's lips quirked a bit. "Must be some kind of spell here. Probably no one wants you to talk to whoever was here before us." Just like at Lyle House. Derek'd still be suspicious of the Edison Group, if he wasn't reasonably certain this wasn't his universe. Or at least, that there were people not from his universe here.

That, and he didn't think the Edison Group was powerful enough to pull off something like this.

"Should we take a look at it, when the storm's over?"

"That's what I thought, too. What are the chances someone randomly picked a necromancer and a werewolf to bring here?"

They could make as many guesses and assumptions they wanted. They wouldn't get any solid answers until they went out and got to the bottom of things on their own, however. And if there is a spell keeping the ghosts out, they would have to do things the old fashioned way.

"Yeah. We need answers, and we need to know everything this place entails. Better to start sooner rather than later."
