Ok. Now, I'm not into soccer let alone sports in general, but I'm digging this World Cup shindig. For whatever reason, I can actually sit for 2 hours watching men run up and down a field smashing into each other while manipulating a blob the size of a melon. But what's been bothering me is how much the American broadcasting systems aren't into ( Read more... )

That's the one thing that's always confused the rest of the world. The entire known world is very much into soccer. But Americans have always loved their football more than soccer. I think there's been studies done, but I haven't read many, if any of them, as to why Americans just don't like soccer. I mean, it's pretty amazing we even have a freaking team that competes, but our team sucks.
I think if we were more into soccer, our international relations might actually be much better. We'd be able to better relate to other countries. Personally, I think it's ignorance. Americans just don't understand how to watch and enjoy soccer.
It could be worse. We could be into cricket.

I guess it is the little things that add up. Think of it. World Peace through sports. Food. Literally building bridges. Playing music. Ahh....lovely possibilities.

Cricket? I don't think I've ever seen a game of cricket before. Is it some sort of derivative of croquet?

I agree. I actually didn't watch soccer until I traveled to England, and then I got hooked. I don't really understand why Americans aren't into soccer, considering is rather similar to football.

Cricket is this godforsaken British game/sport that's pretty much undescribable and confusing as heck. Even a lot of the British don't understand it. It's also long... a single game can take days.
