Okay, so I've gotten a head's up from a friend of mine and I need to make some changes on my journal. Suffice it to say that I'm now going to start protecting my entries and making them friends only ( Read more... )

There are some utilities out there which will go through and change the security for you. I can not for the life of me remember their names or locations, but they're referenced in an early-March post of mine, where I asked the questions you just asked -- should be easy to find, and dredge the comments...

There's no way to make all of your past entries friends only other than manually, one at a time. You can set future entries to default to friends only, though: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=120

Wait -- if there is a way, I'd sure like to know it. Because the official LiveJournal word is that there isn't.

Apparently there's been some discussion among a certain party and its operatives to find something in my journal that could be used against dad.

As if my life has ANYTHING to do with the quality of work that he does for the state of Montana or this country.

I sometimes wish he'd retire and go on the lecture circuit and write a book. Just to get out of the crazy stupidity that has become the system.

that so totally sucks the big one... and people wonder why it's so hard to find good candidates.

You should do what you can to see whether there are archives out there too. Lots of webpages will be archived - and I forget the address of the one I'm thinking of, but I know folks who've used it to back things up when their sites have gone down etc. Do a google search of yourself and see what comes up.
