“You should cut your hair!”
Shige looked up and found Ryo staring at him with his arms crossed. He stopped playing his guitar and looked at him intensely.
“Why the hell should I cut my hair for? It’s short enough already,” he replied.
“Because I told you to cut your hair that means you should cut your hair,” Ryo repeated.
“Non-sense,” Shige took no interest in playing along with Ryo’s argument and continued playing his guitar.
Ryo pouted his mouth and left. He sat on a chair right beside Yamapi, still pouting his mouth, while staring at Shige in the same time. Yamapi couldn’t help it but laughed. He rested his palm on Ryo’s shoulder and giggled, “You should try to find another excuse to talk to him. Old trick won’t work anymore, you know.”
“Shut up, Pi! I’m fully aware that I’m running out of excuses. I can’t tell him to cut his hair, I can’t scold him for his bad acting or dancing anymore, I can’t make fun of his sense of style, and I just can’t find another excuse to talk to him!” Ryo groaned in frustration.
“Why don’t you for once try to talk about something positive instead of all those teases you always gave him? You are certainly giving him the wrong signal,” Yamapi giggled, again.
“Like what? Hi, Shige! How you’ve been doing? You certainly have made my heart beat faster with your smile. Go to hell, Pi. If I do that, that means I’m ready to lose my dignity,” he complained.
After about a whole minute, Koyama and Tegoshi entered the dressing room, with their bags on their shoulders. Koyama put his bag on the meeting table and joined Shige who was still playing with his guitar. Shige just glanced, smiled at him, and continued playing.
“Mouuu, Shige! Use the lyric that I gave you for this song, will you? I’m pretty sure it will make a good combination,” said Tegoshi when he recognized the melody that Shige was playing.
“No way in hell, Tegoshi. I rather die than put that perverted lyric in my song,” he replied, half laughing.
On the other end of the room, Ryo was still staring at Shige. His brain was processing every input that he got from the two younger boys’ conversation. God damn it! I can’t think of any excuse to talk to him from their conversation. “Why don’t you just tell him something about the song? Something like how nice the melody or such,” suggested Yamapi, who seemed to be able to read Ryo’s expression.
Ryo stood up and walked towards the other three members. He stopped just right in front of Shige and stood still for awhile. Shige looked up again as he raised his eyebrows, “I said I’m not going to cut my hair.”
Ryo’s mouth twitched. He looked annoyed. I was about to praise your song, god damn it, Shige! He rested his palm on his waist with eyes glaring at Shige. “Why don’t you just use Tegoshi’s lyric for your song? I’m pretty sure although it is so perverted, it will at least make your pathetic melody sounds nicer,” he said.
Shige blinked his eyes a couple of times. Everyone else in the room went silent. Yamapi hit his forehead, didn’t know how to react with his best friend’s stupidity. Right after Shige blinked for the who-knows-how-many time, he placed his guitar against the wall beside him and walked out of the dressing room.
“Argghh!! That bastard really got into my nerves!” complained Ryo while kicking at the chair that Shige sat on previously.
Ryo walked out of the dressing room and moved his steps to the toilet. He splashed some cold water to his face once he reached the sink, trying to calm himself down. He stared at himself in the mirror. Damn it, Ryo! Go and say sorry!
So he went to find Shige. It took him about fifteen minutes to find Shige who was sitting on the sofa in the lobby. Ryo took a step forward, and then he took another step back. He was just about a meter away from Shige, but somehow failed to get the courage to talk to him.
Then Shige sighed. He took a deep breath before putting the tip of the coffee can that he was holding to his lips. After a sip, Shige put his coffee on the table right beside him, and he sighed again. “Maybe I should just cut my hair again. That idiot, how the hell he expects me to cut my hair now? It’s already so short,” he mumbled.
Eh? Ryo froze for awhile. It made him even more reluctant to step forward and say sorry. Suddenly, Ryo’s phone rang. He trailed his hands on his pant, trying to find his phone, in panic. Damn it! I swear I will not wear any baggy pants with so many pockets on it ever again!
Before Ryo managed to find his phone, Shige turned around and looked a bit surprised finding him there. As Ryo finally found his phone, it stopped ringing. He tried to curve his lips upward while trying not to look at Shige directly in the eyes.
“What are you doing there?” asked Shige.
“Nothing, I just thought it would be fun to take a walk since the weather is so nice,” he replied, making excuses.
“It’s raining. What is so nice about it? You are being ridiculous,”
“Oh, I didn’t notice. It was fine just now,” Ryo added.
Then both went silent. Ryo walked closer and sat on an arm chair that was just right beside the sofa Shige was sitting on. None seemed to have the courage to start a conversation. Ryo glanced at Shige every here and there, trying to find some courage to say sorry for what he said earlier. His heart stopped as their eyes met. Ok, Ryo! Being all nervous is surely not manly! Where’s your pride? He tried to calm himself down.
“So, what actually are you doing here? I’m not that stupid to believe in your excuse,” Shige said at last.
“Nothing really,” he replied.
“Yeah, right. The self proclaimed sexy Osaka man is throwing me lame excuses,” Shige said.
Shige crossed his leg as he took another sip from his coffee can. “I think I’m having a serious mental disease,” said Shige. He stood up and threw his empty can to the trash bin just right beside Ryo.
“You what?”
“I said I’m having a serious mental disease. Now let’s go back upstairs. I’m pretty sure the rest of the band is waiting for us,” said Shige.
Ryo couldn’t understand anything at all. What was wrong with him saying that he has a serious mental disease? Ryo tried to recall anything that he could relate to Shige’s statement as the two of them made their way back to the dressing room.
After he thought about it, he realized that Shige was acting all more mature lately. Well, Shige always acted like an old man after all, but he rarely made any jokes or played along with Tegoshi’s or Massu’s little game anymore. Is he alright?
Shige walked out the lift as soon as the lift’s door opened on their dressing room’s floor, which was on the twentieth floor. But before he managed to step any further, Ryo grabbed his hand and pulled him back inside. He pressed the closed button and then pressed the L button, making the lift to go down once again.
“What the hell did you that for?” said Shige in protest.
“I’m sorry,” Ryo said.
“Ha?”
“I said I’m sorry. I mean, I didn’t mean those words I said to you just now,” he continued.
“….”
“I never meant anything bad I said to you before as well,” he added.
“Why are you telling me all this?”
“I don’t know, because I think I have a crush on you. No, maybe I’m in love with you,” Ryo added again.
Shige went silent. Ryo pressed the stop button, causing the lift to stop in between floors. He looked at Shige who was still trying to interpret what he was saying. “You are joking right?” he asked. Ryo shook his head lightly.
“I hate you even more now,” Shige said, putting both of his hands on his head, looked surprised and frustrated in the same time.
“I don’t blame you,” Ryo said.
“I seriously am having a mental disease,” Shige continued.
“….” Ryo just kept silent, didn’t really sure what Shige was saying, but let him talking anyway.
“I’m sick!” Shige said again, he scotched down with both hands still on his head.
“Are you alright, Shige?” Ryo asked at the end.
“Of course I’m not! Why do you have to love me back? Gosh! This can’t be true!” Shige stood up and leaned his head on the lift door.
“Ha?” Ryo surely didn’t know what Shige was talking about. What the hell he meant with me loving him back?
“I hate love! It’s contagious! I’m sick!” he said again.
“Shige, what the hell are you talking about? You started to scare me here,”
“I said I hate love! It’s driving me insane! It’s a serious mental disease! I’m in love with you! And now you said you might be in love with me? Oh my God! This is so wrong!”
“Ha???” Ryo got more confused.
“Argghhhh!!” Shige groaned. He drew himself closer to Ryo. He grabbed Ryo’s shirt collar, pulling him even closer, and pressed his lips gently against the older boy. Ryo stood still, trying to understand what just happened. Is he kissing me? Eh? Eh? EHHHHH????
Shige pulled away after about a whole minute. His hands were still in Ryo’s collar. Ryo looked at him closely. Shige’s cheeks were pink. “Sorry,” said Shige, while getting his hands off Ryo’s collar. He turned his face away, and pressed the stop button again, making the lift continued going to the lobby’s floor.
“Did you just say that you are in love with me?” asked Ryo.
“Just forget it,”
“Although I always tease you and stuff?” he asked again.
“Please, just forget about it,”
“Why should I?” said Ryo.
He held Shige’s hand gently. Shige stared at him, looking confused. “Since I’m also in love with you, I don’t see why I should just forget about it,” he added.
“You said you might be in love with me. Stop making things complicated, Nishikido-kun. This is insane,” Shige replied.
“Should I reconfirm it?” said Ryo, pulling Shige closer this time, and kissed him.
Shige gasped as Ryo pulled away. “I hate love,” he said, and Ryo kissed him again.
“It’s seriously a mental disease,” he said again, and Ryo kissed him again.
“….” and again.
“I hate you,” and again.
“Shit, I hate being in love with you,” cursed Shige as Ryo kissed him again.
“I’m in love with you and it’s not my fault, it’s yours,” said Shige again. Ryo paused for awhile, smirking, and kissed him again.
Then the two of them got distracted. A loud sound of something was being dropped was certainly made the two of them pulled away. Shit! Ryo cursed as he found out where the sound from. Massu was standing right in front of the open lift, with his mouth open. A coffee can and an umbrella were dropped from his hands.
“Err.. Hi, Massu,” said Shige, trying to act normal.
Massu grabbed his coffee can and umbrella from the floor. His eyes blinked a couple of times really fast, trying to make sure that he wasn’t dreaming. Ryo hit his forehead. Among all people! Why Buta has to be the one that caught us?
“H-hi Shi-Shige. I.. I th-think I’ll just take the stairs,” replied Massu.
