We all hate the holidays, even those who love the holidays. We find ourselves creating the idyllic settings and events in our minds, but the actual think always falls short. And so we find ourselves looking back on the shortcomings and seeing in magnified clarity what pain we've had in recent days.

But, on the upside, all that pain should help us to see with renewed thanks, that which gives us even the smallest of joys. Like a message from a friend, or a lovely photo from a beautiful soul.

We all wait for the holidays to come only by the time they finally do we are sick of them and can't wait for them to be over. By the end of Thanksgiving I was thinking about how I have drifted away from my family over the last couple of years. So it made day a little sad there at the end.

Even without the holidays we should remember why we are thankful. Try to make the best of it and enjoy the little things.
