You did an awesome job taking it in a totally different direction than I expected, and it really rang true to the characters.

(I waver between, of course they did, and things aren't that smooth... but I think, after some really rough patches, they'd worked it out.)

Thank you! I'm glad it rang true - my original plan (I don't know why I bother planning) involved bastard!Jack and sex, but they wouldn't do it. Because they don't. And really, that's their problem.... ;)

Oh man. This is not at all the direction I anticipated this prompt going, and that's the beauty of ficathons and prompts.

To be honest, my original plan involved them having sex. Angsty, guilty, messy sex. But they wouldn't do it. Because that's just not how they are.

My heart breaks for them. I love the layers - the outward offensive defensiveness from Sam, the glimpse of Jack's passion falling back into the party line, Sam's inner contemplation.
