This is one of your best ever. I'd love to hear you read it aloud, but even on the page, without a memory of your voice passing over the words like water rushing downstream, it has an immediacy and economy of line that resonate with special force.
Thank you so much. In retrospect, I like it much more than I originally thought, and I did write it to be read out loud (as I do most of my poems). I read it out loud a few times today, and it sounded very good. Really put my whole voice and body into the reading. I'm going to make the poems part of my Copper Belt book, and someday will do a reading! :)
