Did you look at the whole series? The push pin map is quite telling.

Um-hmm. I liked the several that showed the walls where people had pasted up the magazine pictures in a sort of salon display style, especially the one of the people at the bottom in bed, and the pictures way at the top. I want to do that at my place, only with my, and my friends' little paintings. I liked the one of the rough brick corridor too. I'd sort of like to have that around my house somewhere to walk through and feel the chills now and then, remind myself how lucky I am.

Yes, the juxtaposition to that kind of material culture and glossy advertising to the hardcore reality of their poverty works very well. It's the little spot details that are so amazing. I can see why you would appreciate them given your own photographic style. You are also very good at capturing those small spot details and traces of humanity in a seemingly vacant landscape.

They really are. They are something I needed to share. And then I realized I needed to write a little something about them. I hope you got a chance to click on the link I posted and see the whole set.

Yes, I did.
If anything, it makes me want to run over there with truckloads of gallons of brightly coloured paint, and at least get their walls painted something other than that horrible gray.

These pictures are more representative of sorrow than the Van Gogh.

Thanks for posting the photos and the link.

The Tayob Towers one is doing my head in, because my brain insists on parsing what must be the shadow of a building as the shadow of that oil drum - this collapses everything and turns the tower block in the background into a painted backdrop. I can't stop it.
