Wednesday Comics and Others

Wednesday Comics? What's that? I posted about this awhile back before the series even came out because I was excited about it, and now four weeks into the series I'm even more excited. It's just as perfect as I imagined it would be ( Read more... )

I second this.

Wednesday Comics are fucking great.
Every single one is mind blowing.

I've fallen completely in love with Kerschl's Flash story. AND it's old Barry Allen! AND HE'S ADORABLE.

The thing may have made a new favorite. The Hal Jordan one has a freakin' awesome artist and I really want to look into his stuff. :V

Yeah, a few months ago Bruce Wayne actually "died" during Final Crisis (although there's no way he's staying dead for long, he just may not be Batman right away once he comes back). So after a bit of mourning and resistance, Dick finally gave up and took over as Batman, like we all knew he would eventually. Some people like it, some people don't. I think it's been a great change, even though I loved the old Batman too.

I forgot that you might not be up to date on comics news since you're way over there across the world. Hope I didn't spoil anything for you!

Final Crisis is the name of the series/cross-over/comic book thing right? I'll go ransack the libraries here to look for them! Man, that is so freaking epic! The only thing I've actually read was 52, and the one after Crisis on Infinite Earths. =.=

Haha, nah it's okay! It's justified to be spoiled for something as epic as Dick Grayson being Batman. I love him!

Yes, Final Crisis is the name of the series. You should definitely go check it out! The story is kind of weird, but I guess it's pretty good in its own way. It obviously caused some pretty big changes in the DC universe, so it's good to read it just for that reason.

For those of you who don't know the character just think...Spider-man in Batman's costume, except Spider-man is feeling a little sad because the costume previously belonged to his dad.

LOL, that's a great way of saying it. XD

Yeah, I think that works to sum it up. Have you been reading any of the new Batman stuff? I think it's great how Dick is actually working *with* the cops, attempting to gather evidence against the guys he captures, and even using the media to his advantage. It's definitely a different strategy.

Additionally, he smiles while he's doing it. If Bruce ever smiled while he was punching somebody you knew that he had either lost his mind or the Joker had sprayed him with some kind of gas. Dick is actually happy. What a concept!

I still have all the stuff you guys gave/I bought to read. As far as DC and Marvel are, I've kinda liked waiting for trades :o! But as you read issues, I'd like to hear if they are any good so I can prepare myself to get the trades!

And Spider-Man!Dick has me loling.

Yeah, we generally wait for the trades on most things now too, except for our favorites like Supergirl, Batman, special events like these Wednesday Comics, and some issues that feature Jamie's favorite artists ever (those guys on her list she made over on her journal!). But really, even with all of that we still order a *lot* fewer issues than we used to. Trades are the way to go.

I just have no idea how they're going to make a trade of these since they're so big. If they compressed them down to normal trade size some of the art and text would be *way* too cramped to read, especially the Wonder Woman story which is already pretty busy even at full size. I guess we'll see!

Ah, so that's what the Wednesday Comics are. I may have to go run by Lone Star next week and see them for myself...
