- I DO NOT believe that Oliver knows already that he's infected and he's keeping it a secret.
Same. And I'm surprised if there are fans who do think he is. Last episode cleary showed that Oliver was still.. er, Oliver, for lack of better words. I think the Omega symbol was a sign that he does have a weakness and that darkseid will try to use it against him at some point.
But, I don't think we'll see him overcome it on his own. TPTB wouldn't do this if they weren't planning on making a big deal out of it in the end. I'm pretty sure they'll have him get out of it by help from Clark.
They just don't like showing the men/heroes on that show as independent.
"I DO NOT believe that Oliver knows already that he's infected and he's keeping it a secret."
Omizod, is that what people are saying?!
Unbelievable. So now they want to lightswitch Oliver into a bad guy? Someone who's done nothing but be a genuine hero and fall in love with an amazing woman? That would be FAIL at its EPICest. :-(
I've read so many things, I must have read maybe not more than one or two people suggesting something like that. I just put all the things in a big bag on my head and just throw it in this post.. lol
This is why I didn't want to get invested in Oliver's journey; I knew TPTB were going to have to chop him off at the knees at some point, so that Clark can look better by default. I wish I could say that their treatment of Ollie's character hasn't upset me too, but I'd be lying my arse off
( ... )
*hugs back* Thanks Dee. And yeah, I remind myself everyday that is just a tv show, and somedays Im meh... they can do whatever they want, but others I am "Show respect to my Ollie or heads will fly!!!" lol
There is no doubt in my mind that Oliver is the better hero. He's human, but he uses his time, energy, skills and resources to make the world a better place. If he gets shot, he'll die. Completely agree with you ;)
And I had the same thought as you--why the hell didn't Clark x-ray him? Because he's an idiot, that's why. For me, Clark has always been portrayed to be a self-involved whiny little bitch (pardon my language). Yeah, he goes out and saves people, but at the end of the day, it's pretty much all about Clark, how Clark feels about what he's done, how other people around affect Clark, and Clark whining about his relationships with Lana (seasons 1-8) and now Lois (9-10) with a brief stop in the middle for Alicia.
It amuses me that people say Oliver has nothing left to do on Smallville, when frankly he's been more of a hero than the main character in the five years he's been around. Clark can't even fly yet. :p /end Clark bashing here
It was Oliver who was doing the hero thing long before Clark, Oliver who put together the Justice League, Oliver who led the JL through missions, Oliver who made the sacrifices, etc. And he's only humanThat aside here's what I'm thinking

Even if TPTB tries not to do it, they still make Clark look like BDA. It's the first thing Clark should have done.

About what will happen in the last 3 episodes, I honestly have no idea. I mean, TPTB will have a party of villains, so IDK how they'll make it work. Lionel, Lex, Zod, Darkseid. That's why I said they are only forgetting to bring Doomsday back.. So, ok, this is Clark's show and he has to bethe ultimate hero, but since he'll have so much in his hands to deal with, he'll probably barely give atention to Oliver (which of course is his usual behavior). With more reason then, Ollie should be able to deal with this by himself.
I totally agree with a lot that you have said. I really agree that Oliver should find the strength inside himself to defeat the darkness by himself. I agree that it has completely over taken him. I also agree that Oliver will be key by knowing how to defeat the darkness with in himself. I actually think it's a really appropiate ending to his sstory. I really rember him really struggling and being afraid the darkness with in himself and so for him to have this happen and conquor it on his own I think that would be the perfect ending for Oliver. I'd love for Chloe to be there for him but it's been a theme of love conquoring all but also to use love as your strength and not your weakness and not be so dependent on the person your love that you can't look inside your self for goodness to conquor it.
I don't think darkness has completely overtaken him, and I hope that won't happen. But I agree with everything else you said. Specially the last part :)
Hahah ok, I thought maybe it was a mistake, but wasn't sure.
Plus, how can anyone see Ollie already overtaken by the darkness when he'll be wearing heels, a showgirl custome and maybe even make up (OMG please no!) in the next episode??? LOL.
I don't believe for a second that Oliver has any idea he's infected. I actually think things are going to go down pretty much the way you said:
Oliver having the strenght to get rid of the Darkness inside him, all by himself. Without anyone's help. Why without anyone's help?? Because he needs to understand that he has that strenght. IMO most of the troubles Ollie has been going through come from the lack of faith in himself. Like Clark said on "Echo", he is (or was) afraid of the person he could become. So, IMO he needs to prove himself, and maybe also to the rest, that he can do this just because he has his heart, mind and sould in the right place (which I've never doubt he has) and not because he's taking that strenght from anyone else. He needs to prove himself that he is 100% a hero here, there and everywhere. And when Ollie does this (get rid of the darkness inside him), he'll know how to do it, so he'll be the key to know how to defeat Darkseid.I'd only add that I think his love for Chloe is going to help give him some of that
( ... )
but I think they want to show that ultimately, despite some of the choices he's made, Oliver will always come down on the side of good as well
I hope you are right about this.
My opinion of him is clear and won't change despite anything TPTB do, but I think is important that they show that Oliver has as much value as a hero as Clark. Okay, maybe they won't put him in the same level of Clark, because you know... Clark is the second coming...*rolls eyes*, but at list give him the place that Oliver/Green Arrow deserves and that I feel TPTB has taken from him.

Surely there's room on the show for TWO heroes??

So true.
Ok maybe Clark can help a little, but the biggest part should achieve it Ollie by himself.

Not you, I know what you meant in the post above ;) (and I totally agree with what you said about Ollie being more hero than Clark)
