[30 Days of Fic - Day 14] "Never Been Caught"

Jun 17, 2011 03:09

"Damnit, Josie, I said to stop!" Mark cocked back the hammer of his pistol, and the sound did what his voice wouldn't.

"Mark," she replied, turning towards him, her hands in the air, "you can't do this."

"I'm sorry, but I have to." He swallowed hard, his hand going to the cuffs attached to his belt. "You're under arrest for multiple counts of grand larceny."

She smiled; it was a small, wistful thing. "You know you're not going to send me to jail, my love."

He swallowed hard, holstering his pistol and taking her right hand in his, turning her around gently, pressing her against the hood of the car. So very close she'd been to yet another escape. "I'm sorry, but my duty..."

"Your duty is to your heart!" she cried, looking over her shoulder at him.

"My heart is in my duty." He closed his eyes a moment, holding her fast with his left hand.

Her movements were quick as a snake and somehow it ended with his wrist in her hands, one cuff closing around it with a series of visceral clicks. He barely had time to gasp before she had his other hand cuffed and threw him to the ground. "I'm sorry, my love, but today is not the day." Quietly, she lowered herself on top of him and gave him a long, slow kiss.

Mark laughed in response, shaking his head. "What now?"

"Now? I run, my love. Don't worry, I'll call someone to come pick you up."
