Never, ever, ever underestimate the healing power of a long, hot, shower. So hot that the bathroom is practically a steam room when you get done and the floor tiles are wet because of all the moisture in the air. My mother used to tell me that if I were ever feeling depressed or mentally stuck or disgusted with my life, that I should shave, brush my teeth, and have a nice, long shower. I used to think it was the lamest, most useless piece of advice I ever got.

All these years later, it's probably the piece of advice that's been most helpful.

I sent Madison an e-mail but I wanted to tell you in case he forgot or whatever. I have a two hour layover at O'Hare on my way back to L.A. June 1st, and I was hoping- barring O'Hare being an inconvenience for you- that we might be able to get together for a drink or dinner or something.
