Ohhhh my. It is cold. It is very cold. I just discovered I have ICE on the INSIDE of my front windows. Admittedly the heating has only just come on, but seriously. Ice. Inside. That's not fair ( Read more... )

You could try using a blow dryer on a low setting on the ice? Or that could crack the glass, I suppose, so...maybe that's not a good idea.

Stay warm! Find lots of blankets!

The ice is gone now. Apparently it does help when you switch the heating on. But I have a big jumper and a duvet on me, and a blanket standing by, so all is well.

Do you have a fridge-freezer? We let it get too cold in our kitchen and the fridge-freezer stopped freezing. Apparently this happens if the room gets colder than the fridge should be inside. So keep an eye on it. A friend showed me a trick I didn't know: put an ice-cube in a cup in the freezer. If the freezer has thawed and refrozen you can tell because the your ice-cube is no longer a cube.

I only have a fridge. I asked for a freezer for christmas and it is not yet bought but now I am thinking I would rather have the money. Hmm.

That is a good trick but I would just check the ice-cream, you tend to get crystals on the top.

I'd be carefull...when I put the heaters on low all the time, I tend to get mold a lot more often than the turn-it-up-high-occasionally method.

Crap, I didn't think of that. Once the weather improves (i.e. goes above freezing some of the time) I will go back to the previous method, I think. This stuff is complicated...
